The Bribery Act 2010 requires public and private bodies to ensure that organisational measures are in place to guarantee that no one associated with the organisation either gives or receives a financial advantage as a result of a bribe. Under the Act, bribery is punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment for individuals. If a company is found to have insufficient measures in place to prevent bribery, they could face serious damage to the reputation of the business, be excluded from tendering for public contracts or face an unlimited fine.
