There is a growing number of non-medical prescribers (NMPs) in primary care. A range of non-medical healthcare professionals can prescribe medicines for patients as either Independent or Supplementary Prescribers. Non-medical prescribing improves patients’ access to treatment and may help to address current demand and workforce issues in the primary care setting.

Companies should ensure that all non-medical prescribing practice is aligned with the competency framework for all prescribers as per the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Competency Framework for All Prescribers (rpharms.com).
